Book review: Harry Potter and the seven relinquish

I enjoyed this book which is the last in Harry´s collection, they are seven in all. It was written by JR Rawling. The story is set in England and the plot centers on the adventure of Harry Potter and his friends who have to destroy Voldemort, the most powerful man in the dark side of magic, together with the dementors.

The book opens with the escape of Harry Potter and his friends, Ron and Hermione of the school to find Voldemort because Harry Potter is “the chosen one” to kill him. In order to succeed, they must discover the mystery of the hallows because it is very important for their mission. In this trip Dumbledor, the school principal helps them with some elements which are very important to complete their objective. They go through incredible adventures. However, Harry is convinced that he has to kill Voldemort, and he wants to kill him too.

One of the things I liked best about the book was the descriptions of the situations and places Harry and his friends went through in search of Voldemort. My only criticism is that the author has a tendency to change the past and the present situations, so it was occasionally rather confusing.

To conclude, if you are a fan of adventures, you will love Harry Potter. If you want, you can go to http://www.harrylatino.com/ and you can enjoy other people’s reviews. I highly recommend this book.

From Twilight to Breaking Down

I thoroughly enjoyed this magic, romantic and totally engaging story. The Twilight Saga is a drama written by Stephenie Meyer, an excellent author, who sets the story in the cold and cloudy city of Forks in Washington. The plot centres on a shy girl who falls in love with a vampire, and all the problems they have to confront to be together and hold a forbidden love.

This saga stars with Twilight, the first from the four books Stephenie has written, up to now. It tells the arrival of Isabella ‘Bella’ Swan to Forks. She moves there to be with her father while her mother is travelling with her new husband. At school, she finds some new friends and meets a mystery family who seems to be a little reserved and unsociable. However, the youngest of them called her attention. Strange things begin to happen and all seems to point that the boy with golden eyes and perfect smile, Edward Cullen, is hiding something important. After some time, Bella discovers the true nature of Edward and his family but, nevertheless, they go ahead with that forbidden love that they share together. The Cullens are not like the common vampires who are blood drinkers and can only go out at night. However, Bella’s blood is one of the main problems for them to stay together, coupled with the arrival of some nomad vampires, who don’t have the same ‘vegetarian’ life style. All these are some of the difficulties that this couple have to face to save their love and even their own lives.

One of the things I liked best about the first book, apart from the romantic story, was the way Stephenie wrote it: It’s told in first person from Bella’s point of view, so the reader only knows what she knows, making Edward and his family a mystery that is slowly unravelled throughout the book. My only criticism is that maybe the descriptions were a little bit long; therefore you tend to get lost while you are reading.

All in all, if you are a fan of drama you’ll love this saga. And if you’re not, I would still recommend it because Twilight is also a profoundly moving love story with action and mystery which is what the vampires are.

Singing along with the Beatles!

El grupo de Kids 4 trabajó con Yesterday, de Los Beatles para repasar el Pasado Simple. Miraron el video, completaron las letras y, por supuesto, cantaron!

Kids 4 worked with Yesterday, by The Beatles, to revise the simple past. They watched the video, completed the lyrics and, of course, sang along!

Here is the video the children watched:

And here are the lyrics so that you can sing along, too!

Yesterday (Lennon-McCartney)

Yesterday,
All my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday

Suddenly
I'm not half to man I used to be
There's a shadow hanging over me
Oh, yesterday came suddenly

Why she had to go I don't know
She wouldn't say
I said something wrong
Now I long for yesterday

Yesterday
Love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday

Why she had to go I don't know
She wouldn't say
I said something wrong
Now I long for yesterday

Yesterday
Love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
