A very important day!
There was a series of revolutionary, political and social events in the city of Buenos Aires this past week.
Yesterday, the Argentines were sad because they were ruled by the Spanish, by Viceroy Baltazar Hidalgo de Cisneros. The Spanish had the best houses, money, and used black people for the hard work in the houses and also as slaves. Also, the Creoles didn’t have any rights and were very unhappy. Yesterday, May 25th 1810, after discussing about how to get rid of the Spanish Viceroy, the Argentines did it! The people involved in this event were: Cornelio Saavedra, Manuel Alberdi, Manuel de Azcuenaga, Manuel Belgrano, Juan Jose Castelli, Domingo Mathew, Juan Larrea, Juan Jose Paso and Mariano Moreno, and they made the “Primera Junta”
This event is very important because the Argentines gave the first step towards independence and the first local government was formed.

We say “stop” to Spain
Yesterday, May 25th, the people in Buenos Aires said “stop” to Spain. Now, Mariano Moreno, Cornelio Saavedra, Juan José Paso, Castelli, Belgrano, Alverti, Azcuenaga, Larrea and Mateu are at the Cabildo discussing our next steps.
The people in Buenos Aires have had a busy week. On May 18th, Cisneros attempted to conceal the news that the king of Spain was imprisoned. On May 19th, some people discussed the situation in Rodriguez Peña´s house. On May 20th, the people asked for an open Cabildo. On May 23rd, the people voted against the continuity of Cisneros. On May 24th the people formed the Primera Junta and on May 25th the Junta got rid of the Spanish viceroy.
Now we have more freedom and we will have to decide what to do next. We have taken a very important step towards our independence!

Interesting revolution in Buenos Aires
Revolutionary, political and social events took place during these last few days in Buenos Aires. Yesterday, there was a important revolution. Primera Junta and the people went to the Cabildo. The members of the Primera Junta were Cornelio Saavedra, Castelli, Belgrano, Azcuénaga, Alberti, Mattheu, Moreno, Paso and Larrea.
Wednesday, May 23rd
The Cabildo formed a "Junta de Gobierno."
Thursday, May 24th
The people were outraged when they informed them that the Cabildo decided that Cisneros had to stay. All the members of the Junta resigned.
Friday, May 25th
The "criollos" in the Plaza Mayor (nowadays, Plaza de Mayo) formed the first national government.
