April 23rd: Spanish Language Day and World Book Day

El grupo de Teens 4 realizó una investigación sobre quienes inspiraron el Día del Idioma, Miguel de Cervantes y William Shakespeare. Compartieron la información obtenida y armaron este texto con los datos más importantes de la vida de cada uno de estos dos autores clásicos.

On April 23d we celebrate the Spanish Language Day and the World Book Day because both Shakespeare and Cervantes supposedly died on that date. So, we decided to search for information about their lives to answer some questions.


Here is what we found out:


MIGUEL DE CERVANTES


Who was Miguel de Cervantes?

He was a man who had a lot of jobs: a soldier, a novelist, a poet, and a playwright.


Where was he born?

He was born in Alcalá de Henares, in Spain.


When was he born and when did he die?

He was born on September 29, 1547. He died on April 22/23, 1616.


How old was he when he died?

He was 69.


Why did he become a famous person?

Because he wrote a lot of famous works.


What was his most famous work?

He wrote El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha.




WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

Who was William Shakespeare?

He was a playwright, poet and actor.


Where was he born?

He was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, in England.


When was he born and when did he die?

He was born on April 23, 1564. He died on April 23, 1616.


How old was he when he died?

He was 52.


Why did he become a famous person?

Because his works were very important in the history of literature.


What was his most famous work?

He wrote Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Macbeth, etc.
