Working with Shakespeare!

Kids 4 (Mondays and Wednesdays) have been reading about England's greatest poet and they have prepared these excellent texts to share with us. Shall we read them?

Los alumnos de Kids 4 (lunes y miércoles) estuvieron leyendo sobre William Shakespeare y prepararon estos textos excelentes para compartir con nosotros. ¿Los leemos?

Shakespeare's times
William Shakespeare was from Stratford-upon–Avon, a city situated in London. We celebrate his birthday on April 23rd. He had a family. He had brothers and sisters. His mother was rich. His father made and sold gloves.

When he went to school, he didn´t have to pay but he had to learn to read and write before starting. At school he had to study maths, history, and Latin. Some years later, he married Anne Hathaway and they had three children.

Shakespeare in London
An interview with him

STUDENTS:       Hello William. It´s a pleasure to have this interview with you !
SHAKESPEARE: Hello children, the pleasure is mine. What are you doing here?
STUDENTS:       Well, we are students from Marianista´s school, and we want to ask you some questions.
SHAKESPEARE:  Well, I´m ready to answer your questions.
STUDENTS:       Why did you go to London?
SHAKESPEARE:  Because I became part of a theatre group of travelling actors
STUDENTS:       What was the city like?
SHAKESPEARE:  London was the wealthiest and the biggest city in England at that time.
STUDENTS:       What did you do with the money you earned?
SHAKESPEARE:  I bought two houses one for me in London and another one for my family in Stratford-upon-avon.
STUDENTS:       What great discoveries were there in the world in the 15th Century
SHAKESPEARE:  Let me think, Galileo Galilei showed us that the sun didn´t move and that the Earth went around it. Hans Lippershey invented the telescope and there were many, many other dicoveries.
STUDENTS:       What type of plays did you write?
SHAKESPEARE:  I usually divided my plays into three types and these are history, tragedy and comedy.
STUDENTS:       What play do you think people like the most?
SHAKESPEARE:  I think it is Romeo and Juliet.
STUDENTS:       Thank you very much you are a master for all of us !!!
SHAKESPEARE: Children thank you ! and remember that I´ll be waiting for you at the Globe theatre, my theatre !!!
